FAQs
Will Year 2 need to apply for a place for Year 3 in the junior school? For children starting the junior school in September 2026, yes, as the full agreement for the proposal will not be made until April 2026. However, if the amalgamtion goes through, there will be no need for this process from 2027.
Why is the age range noted in the proposals for 3-11 year old range not 2-11? This is because although DayCare is part of the school, they have a separate Ofsted number. The school and BCC will do a separate consultation when the daycare and nursery are merged into one nursery, and extend the age range of the school. This may be at the same time as the amalgamation proposal or slightly later date. At no point will we not be taking 2 year old children!
What time will the school day start and end? The day timings will be the same as they currently are.
Will Fridays still be an early finish? Yes, timings will be the same as they currently are.
Will staff be working across the whole school? Staff will be used based on their experience and expertise. However, there will be professional development opportunities.
Will the uniform change? Any uniform changes will be phased in, so no additional costs for families.
How will school policies and procedures be agreed? Many policies are model policies from BCC, so are the same across both schools. Many are similar if they are not BCC model policies. However, policies will be reviewed as part of the process.
Will the children still use separate halls for assembly and lunch? Yes - purely due to maximum numbers in the hall.
Will the children still do outdoor learning? Yes
What will the school be called? This is under discussion.
We will add more Qs&As as questions come up.
